Just Unsure How To Proceed

had this unfortunate turn of events online and it's about how i handled it not well. ok, it's 5 or so years ago and i had an fb account. i had friends i knew well there and some were people i never knew personally, but they were aware of me because i used to be in punk rock bands. we were making friends and having fun until they started with the trump stuff.

i don't remember where i was on my own level of political vociferocity then. more vocal than now certainly, but if i look back at older accounts i can't bring down, i can see an ever more peaceful minded and politics-less site progression. blurry memory aside, i posted politics stuff that wasn't trump or republican, but you could see my lean. i'm not in favor of trump or republicans. i can deal with the opposing politics, unless they take on a certain tone.

it's almost evangelical and i've discerned levels. posts of the pols screeching or news articles on their policies, if they're doing more than just shit talking others' appearance or something like that. the next step is the, my side's guy is better than your side's guy posts and it started getting personal.

the posts name calling and stuff like that. the posts name calling the pols like schoolyard brats. all semblance of respect or debate lost in the post trump presidency era.

following that, it becomes your guy is breaking a campaign promise, whaddya think of trump now? taking it to me personally and i have learned not to engage. and the answer btw, is still the same. about trump, i still think he's congentically dishonest and a criminal and not someone i'd vote for.

right now the choices for president are set and there isn't time to replace the selection there is on the left, which is more in the direction i lean, although i left the dem party, i did not jump to the right bc i find little of substance to get behind there either. what i am left with, what we all are if we stop trailing parties and sides is, whomever can help the majority of us most, bc someone will always be unhappy with outcomes, and can hurt us the least if everyone agrees it'ts fair. but hard pass on voting for trump.

...i've known who he was since the 1970s.
